Meanwhile, the company has also renamed its 'Carousel' cloud-based image processing, sharing and hosting service 'Revel.' The company says it 'plans to offer additional photography solutions on the platform in the future, so the new branding more broadly encompasses these offerings.' Click here for more details of the Creative Suite CS3 and CS4 upgrade offer I'm glad they didn't go forward with their announced change to upgrades for now.I own PS-CS3 on a Vista based PC and plan to upgrade after CS6 is released.I even took a pass on Adobe Light Room, at least for now. We'll see what LR4 has to offer when it's out of beta testing, but at this point I'm not enthusiastic about Adobe's licensing shenanigans, so I'm not really feeling a burning in my loins for any of their software.I typically upgrade every 2 to 3 versions of whatever software/hardware products I use unless my work evolves to need something sooner.I've been considering trying LR now that it's been tweaked through nearly 4 versions, but am still very disappointed that it can't interchangeably share and update RAW file data with ACR in PS.If I knew how to operate all the features of Creative Suite I'd be doing it for a living.I use LR2 for 90% of my work coupled with Photomatix, Topaz and Nik.
The point about subscription software can't be over stated.
But when Adobe announced their new policy I was upset about being forced to buy stuff I don't need and considered switching to something else just to avoid these Adobe products in the future.
The more recent versions (PS-CS4 & CS5) didn't have enough new features that I really needed to get work completed, even though some looked interesting.
Lr4 needs at least one more feature to "Wow" current users to upgrade, imo.
Adobe will learn the hard way that greed is a self destructing formula. We will end up having to pay a subscription for most or even all software right down to the operating system.
